Cross Movement - Higher Definition

Album Overview
We live in an age in which there have been many advancements made in technology, one of those being high definition televisions. With a high def TV you get, better color, better resolution, better sound, and just overall you get a better experience and higher quality when watching TV. In our lives, God has called us to live by higher standards (His standards) rather than the world’s standards. He has called us to live by Higher Definition, and that is the name of the 5th album release from The Cross Movement.
Musically, Higher Definition has a wide variety of sounds which makes the album good for replay. This album has some head bangers (“Its Time” and “Jersey and Fitteds”), it has smooth joints (“Lord You Are” and “We”), and everything in between.
I am amazed at how these cats combine their knowledge of the scriptures and their God given talent to lyrically rhyme to spread the gospel and help grow draw closer to Christ! If you are looking for an album with raw lyrics then do not pass this one up! Not only are their lyrics sound in doctrine, but they also have a variety of punch lines that are good candidates for status’ on facebook! Lol.
Spiritual Significance
This album is packed with spiritual significance so let’s get right to it! In the intro track “Civilian Affairs” the believer is compared to a soldier at war. This is a good analogy because soldiers must train and prepare for war to make sure they are ready just like Christians should train and prepare themselves for trials, temptations, witnessing, and ultimately train themselves to grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ (Phil. 3:7-8).
“Lord You Are” talks about the attributes of God and the importance of focusing on who He is and not what He does. Too often people come to Christ because they want a blessing or because they want to be happier. If Christ is to be glorified in his people, their following must be rooted not mainly in his promised gifts or threatened punishments, but in his glorious Person. Indeed, the works of the Lord are great (Psalms 111:2), but the works are great because the Lord is great.
The importance of pursing heavenly treasures and not worldly treasures is addressed in the song “Jersey’s and Fitteds.” People chose to delight in things other than God and receive temporary satisfaction. In John chapter 4 Jesus tells us that if we seek satisfaction in anything other than “the Living Water,” then we will always be thirsty and never be satisfied. It’s important to realize and remember that what is seen is temporary (2 Cor. 4:18) and that it will pass away. In the song, The Ambassador says, “don’t miss out on what God has/and find out you never got treasure you got trash.” Can’t sum it up any better than that!
“Epiphany” talks about our need and call to walk in and shine the light of Christ. Matthew 5:14-16 says “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Nobody lights a lamp just to cover it up! Rather, it is placed somewhere it can be used by all who need it. That’s how it is with the light of Christians. We are to let the light of Christ shine through us to benefit and serve others.
That was just some of the spiritual significance that can be pulled out of this album, go out and purchase Higher definition for the rest!
